Ruth Wyand, representing the Triangle Blues Society, performs in the International Blues Challenge Solo/Duo Finals at the Orpheum Theater in Memphis, TN. February 4, 2017
The really fun part is that she is using her Perfect Touch Finger Picks. She had just received her picks only days before on her way to the Challenge. She was so comfortable with the picks that she felt confident using them during the competition! Thanks Ruth!! |
I bought a Perfect Touch clawhammer fingerpick. I was between sizes on the chart, but Jenny, at PTFP, gave me good advice to get the smaller of the two sizes. For clawhammer, the length is the more important spec. The pick fits great, is very comfortable, and adds a bit of needed volume to my banjo. I would totally recommend Perfect Touch fingerpicks for clawhammer banjo!

I have been playing these picks for the past 3 months. Folks, they work. At first, the thumb pick design looked as if it would be awkward to use. Actually, it has been the most comfortable pick I have ever used. I am a rookie at banjo playing, and usually used only my nails for finger picking the guitar. These picks have given me the comfort that kept me away from using finger picks on a consistent basis, and of course I now get more volume from the instrument. Yep, I highly recommend them.

Couldn't use any other pick now. Perfect Touch are perfect .

I'm so sorry to hear of Rusty's passing. I'm glad you are back in business. Perfect Touch are the only picks I have used, since Rusty came out with them. They are the only picks that are comfortable, and stay on my fingers. I'm so glad you are back.

What can I say: during my time of playing I’ve tried most of the major (and not so major!) guitar pick companies to find finger picks that would survive energetic rock gigs. The Perfect Touch picks are the ONLY ones that have been able to stay on my hand through a show without falling off. They adjust so well to your fingers - there really is a difference when you go through a difficult scale run with these picks. THANK YOU Perfect Touch, I’m a fan for life!

The best picks made and a Family based business..I recommend them to any serious picker I know..

These picks really are great. I bought the fingerpicks after using Acri SS for about five years. I also like the Acri fingerpicks, but these work better for me. They are easily adjusted, comfortable on the fingers and have a lighter feeling on the fingers. They can be snugly fitted to not come off but are not too tight. I like the Kelly speed thumbpick in combo with these. It has helped me increase in speed and even picking

I have used Perfect Touch Finger Picks for over a decade and am happy to endorse them. These are the most comfortable picks I have ever put on my fingers, & the tone is great. When you put a set on, they become a part of your hand, and the way they flex & hug your fingers...they will not fly off during a gig. Join the Perfect Touch Revolution...you'll be glad you did.

I am very reserved about writing this review, as I am simply a humble beginner without extensive experience in playing in the "real world" and without the benefit of trying out a gozillion different finger/thumb picks.
That being said, and this being a review based on personal opinion, I must say that I really do like the new Perfect Touch picks. As noted in a previous review, I have had the brass, rounded PT fingerpicks for a long time; however, as soon as I saw this cyborg-looking thumb pick, I just had to try it out. (Since I got a good deal on the combo-pack which included the fingerpicks, I went ahead and bought all three).
The thumb pick is, for lack of a better word, of hybrid construction. The actual plectrum is stiff plastic, but the 3-prong bendable tabs that fit around the thumb and the plate to which they attach are nickel.
For some reason, the cuticle on my thumb has always been very sensitive to standard thumbpicks, so I have had to modify every one that I've ever used so that there was a cutout around my cuticle. With the PT thumbpick, that is not an issue. Two prongs wrap around the top of the knuckle (looking down in playing position); the other prong wraps 'up' in front of the knuckle so that there is actually no coverage on the back of the thumb. As far as the sound goes, I can't hear any difference at all.
The nickel fingerpicks fit even more comfortably than the brass ones, and I like the feel of the flat tips more than the rounded tips (but this is where inexperience figures in heavily, as I have never used flat-tipped picks before; I don't know if it is the pick itself or the style of the pick).
Like most aspiring banjoists, it is not unusual for me to practice for very long stretches of time. I have experienced no slippage at all, and there is no pain or discomfort in wearing these picks, before during, or after practicing. All in all, I give the Perfect Touch thumb/finger pick combo an A+ rating for what I am looking for in picks. And remember, this review is based upon the personal opinion of one who is still very much a beginner...

I am by no means a professional, honestly, so far i can only play two songs with my set. Here's the kicker though...I can play two songs!!! ha! I have never been able to use conventional finger picks. Perfect Touch is the only brand I would recommend to anyone! If you're a pro, well it's just a matter of having the right tool for the job. If you are a string fumbling novice like me then get ready to be able to focus on technique instead of giving up.

Jenny,
I’ve had a couple days with these picks and I have to say they’re amazing. They’re so completely different from everything else they’ve definitely taken some getting used to… but give me a couple more days and these will be the new “normal” for me. I just finished playing for 2 solid hours and I still feel fresh. I didn’t have to take any of the normal breaks I’ve had to in the past to let the blood get back into my fingertips. ha ha Kept going strong and feeling great the entire time. I’m hooked and I’m going to tell everyone I know about Perfect Touch Picks. I only wish I knew about these when I was first starting out playing. How much time do you figure I’ll get out of these before I need to get another set? Now I’m wanting to try out the round face in the other metal option and try a set of flat face. These picks are incredible and they’re EXACTLY what I’ve been searching for. I only started playing back in March and I’ve been killing myself to put in as many hours as possible every day so I can improve as quickly as possible. With every other kind of pick I’ve tried finger pain has limited me greatly. You just have to stop for a while with every other pick I’ve tried. Your fingertips get ice cold and start to hurt… Thanks to these Perfect Touch Picks I’m going to really be able to start racking up the hours. I just stopped after 2 hours and honestly feel like I could keep going all day long. The only reason I’ve taken a break is to write this e-mail and get something to eat. Thank you so much!

I bought a pair of the "Perfect Touch" banjo picks and wasn't sure how good they were going to be....after I put them on and started playing, I got use to the feel of them real quick. It holds firm on your fingers and sounds real great.
If you have been thinking of buying a pair...go for it...its worth the price.

Hello, I know you market these picks and the design for comfort, which they are, but these picks are also great for bringing out volume. They are the brightest and loudest picks i own, and i have a quite a few. I have all the big name picks like shelor, showcase, roys own. Up until now, i liked the showcase 41's for their brightness, but even they sound mellow compared to these perfect touch picks. Once you play with these a while, all the others sound like duds. Ive confirmed this on all 3 of my banjos. . I have your flat bladed version, so i cant speak for the round blades.
Just thought id write in and let you know, and im sure others have noticed this as well. The bishline is my latest banjo ( i bought used ) and i was kinda disappointed at first because it didnt have the volume i wanted, i tried different set ups, but im not really an expert. It was all in the picks. your picks give me the volume and pop i was looking for. Its sounds like a totally different banjo, and im not kidding.

At first it took a little getting used to, but wow!! This thing is great. Very little effort to get a crisp clear note and helps my clunky fingers gain a little more accuracy. I love this pick!! And their customer service is the best. If you play clawhammer, it's worth the money

They're very comfortable, don't pinch your cuticles or slip off. They also have a great sound. I just bent them a little to the angle that I'm used to and got to pickin'. The picks with the flat face feel much better hitting the string than my old round faced ones. They mailed my picks out the day I ordered them and got them super fast.

I purchased the brass round picks, made by Rusty Thornhill.
They pretty much fit right out of the box; I simply bent the tips a little to my preference, and I was off and running! They are, by far, the most comfortable picks I've ever tried; however, I have never tried any of the more expensive picks.
I wholeheartedly recommend these picks for comfort! The sound is great, too. What's really nice about these picks is that they don't have to 'pinch' your fingers to stay on. I love 'em! (Thanks Rusty!)
